Summary:
The Technology Support Specialist I installs, sets up, and monitors personal computers and accessories for end users, provides in-classroom and open lab assistance to Pratt Munson students in 4D Design, Visual Communications, and Digital Photography and to faculty and Information Technology during non-instruction time and assistance with inventory control of equipment available for student use.
Assists Information Technology and Network Manager with maintenance and administration of network users and equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Administer/Maintain Network Systems:
Install, configure, monitor, and maintain end users computer systems, workstations, and accessories.
Monitor and maintain servers, Ethernet networks, Wi-Fi networks, firewalls, and switches.
Administer users network and server access, email accounts, and file permissions.
Perform data back-ups.
Helpdesk Support:
Troubleshoots networks, computer systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
Serves as an information systems resource, investigates user problems, tests and implements solutions.
Planning and Development:
Assists the Information technology and Network Manager through evaluation/recommendation for purchase and/or replacement of computer systems, equipment, application software, and lending equipment.
Media Support:
Assists students, faculty, and staff with planning, editing, or finalization of:
Digital media productions (filming, audio/video editing); Multimedia Productions (prepares equipment for media presentations in galleries).
Other duties:
Create technical instructions for end users, assists with research and procurement of supplies and technical equipment used at Munson.
Organizational Service:
Will serve on intra-departmental committees as required and complete other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
The Technical Support Specialist I position requires an Associate's Degree or equivalent certifications and/or a minimum of 1 year of job related experience.
Desired:
Multi platform computer system to include MS Windows (up to current versions), MS Windows Servers, MS Active Directory, Apple OS, Google Workplace for Education, Google Workspace administration, Adobe Creative CloudSuite, VMware Host Servers, VMware V-Center.
In addition, the Technical Support Specialist I will possess the following skills and abilities:
Effective organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and follow through on all assignments with minimal direction; Excellent communication and professional interpersonal skills to interact with Munson staff and faculty Critical thinking, consensus building, and problem solving skills SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities:
The Technical Support Specialist I does not have direct supervisory responsibilities for hiring, termination, performance appraisals or performance counseling.
COMPUTER MACHINE & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
Knowledge of specific computer software and skills listed in Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities above with advance computer skills from database to spreadsheets, word processing, and other office equipment such as copiers, phone systems, etc.
