Adirondack Railroad Onboard services attendant Seasonal, hourly position The incumbent serves meals and beverages to passengers on moving trains, assuring a pleasant experience with a polite, professional, and courteous manner.
The incumbent is responsible for assisting passengers to assigned seating, providing menu information, taking accurate food and beverage orders, assuring the cleanliness and neatness of place settings and eating utensils, collecting payments as appropriate and adhering to all relevant health department guidelines and railroad safety rules.
The position reports to the Director, Passenger Services The incumbent is responsible to:
prepare tables by setting up linens, eating utensils, and glasses, ensuring cleanliness greet and escort passengers to their tables present menu information and respond when asked about portions, ingredients inquire about potential food allergies take accurate food and beverage orders, using order slips ensure passengers meet age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages serve food and drink orders periodically check to see that passengers are enjoying the meal remove dirty plates, glasses, and eating utensils at end of the meal, carry to kitchen for cleaning deliver checks and collect bill payments, providing funds and payment information to the Director at the end of the trip follow all relevant health department regulations and railroad safety rules always provide courteous and pleasant service.
LOCATION:
Reporting location is in Utica, New York.
REQUIREMENTS:
This is a seasonal, part-time, hourly-paid position, with work assignments on moving trains that vary with train schedules, often in the evening and on weekends.
On occasion, as may be required by special events, additional hours will be required.
The job requires frequent interaction with the traveling public.
High school diploma or equivalent Valid NYS driver's license Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English, other languages are an asset Demonstrated knowledge of computerized point of sale systems, simple math proficiency Five years prior experience as waitstaff in food service is a requirement Cordial, pleasant manner and teamwork approach to service is a requirement COMPENSATION:
