Trades Specialist (Bridges)

Candidates must possess a valid New York State Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restriction at the time of appointment and thereafter. At the time of appointment, the selected candidate must be welder 3G and 4G certified in accordance with NYSDOT requirements and maintain that requirement continuously thereafter. Trades Specialist (Bridge) are required to work high above the ground and water on under bridge inspection equipment, scaffolds, ladders and boatswain chairs with rigging and slings. They work in all kinds of weather conditions and amid highway traffic. Trades Specialists are expected to perform or assist with carpentry, welding, steel fabricating, and painting; perform jack hammering, chipping, drilling, mixing and pouring concrete; operate gunite equipment; erect scaffolding; and operate sandblasting equipment. Trades Specialists must take instructions and direction from Bridge Repair Supervisors I and II; give oral instructions, constructive advice and act as a mentor to Bridge Repair Assistants and Trainees; and supervise small groups of workers. Trades Specialists are expected to have a working knowledge of Transportation Maintenance Safety Manual and Work Zone Traffic Control typicals. The successful candidate will be required to attend and complete necessary trainings as directed. Candidate must also be OPP certified and able to respond to emergency call-outs within one (1) hour. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Salary Range:
From $47530 to $58016 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Four years of full-time experience in a trade related to bridge repair, maintenance and construction under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in a bridge or technical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated; candidates must be One-Person Plowing (OPP) certified to perform Snow & Ice Operations during the winter season; when required to perform work on NYSDOT projects, candidates must possess a NYSDOT Certified Welder in shielded metal arch welding, vertical position and unlimited thickness. NOTE:
Cannabis use is not permitted for employees in this title and assignment. Cannabis use will be tested for during the pre-employment screening process and may be the basis for disqualification for employment or may be a basis for removal from employment.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
